host: bruce is calling from tennessee. caller: thanks for taking my call. you never hear anyone in washington talk about cutting the amount of money we spend in other countries. everything they want to do, they want to take away programs here in the united states. but the people here are really hurting and depending on them. we have a lot of money that we spend in other countries and we could get ourselves out of debt in a short time. the other thing, they will not pass anything in washington because special-interest groups are getting a bunch of pork in everything they tried to put through and it turns everybody host: against it how do you respond when people say foreign aid makes up a very small part of our federal budget, just a single digits, and that the real drivers are medicare, social security, medicaid, our defense budget? caller: if you add it all up, it's not such a small thing. there's quite a bit of it. what we need to do is reform the way we do our foreign aid. instead of just sending money to other governments to use as they please and line t

host: nick in tennessee on the democratic line. caller: good morning. you're talking about the role of atf. , if the questions is nra was not loading up the house and other congress members with money and donations, with the atf had a better role as far as making rules and regulations towards gun practices and gun ownership and possibly making those things be licensed? i know people want to stand up for the second amendment, and so do i.. i want that protected as well as the first amendment, for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. but the atf regulated the use of alcohol, because of the violence that alcohol caused in our individuals, like drunk drivers, big changes in laws were made because of drunk drivers killing people and because of the deaths that tobacco caused our citizens, because of smoking, they regulated places where you could not smoke and not around children and stuff like that, to protect them. would be atf make stronger restrictions on people that want to carry guns out in the public and stuff like that? guest: you hit the nail

there's a new plant opening up in tennessee to provide as many as they can sell. the question is what's the demand? a lot of the new vehicles that are coming from auto makers such as chrysler and toyota and honda are going to be limited to california only. they're there mainly to meet requirements and pollution control officials who want a certain percentage met in those states. jords wise, the demand is still questionable. really the only auto maker is trying to make a mass market is tess la. they're not quite there yet. hybrids are about 3% of the market. and sales have been fairly steady. they're not expected to be that much of an increase because the industry has been able to make fuel saving technology on conventional cars come close to matching the performance at a much lower cost so there's still this math that goes into buying a hybrid versus a regular powered vehicle. the typical saying is the first time we hit $4 a gallon nationally which summer which i'm sure will happen you'll see hybrid sales go back up. >> what's the future of stock owned by the fede
